This clinic follows the format for the Progressive Hoof Care Practitioners 3 Day Beginner Clinic model.
It is generally a morning lecture followed by an afternoon of hands on with tools and horses. We trim cadaver hooves, do a complete distal limb and hoof dissection, and work with materials such as hoof packing, casting material, boots, and composite shoes. Students learn how to handle tools such as rasp, knife, nippers, and shoe pullers, and be safe around horses. In addition to trim theory, we will cover diet, movement, environment, conformation, anatomy/physiology, and pathology. This class is geared toward trimmers and horse owners, as well as professionals in the horse/farrier industry.
