Throughout his career he has been a clinician and educator. He has given clinics throughout North America, Canada and Europe. One of his first mentors - Mr Frank McGinnis was very generous with his knowledge and asked David to also give back. He has done that with his business as well as through his shoeing clinics and seminars with dedication and passion.
David's first mentors were Fritz Bookman and Frank McGinnis. He never attended a farrier trade school but has visited many, giving clinics and seminars about the skill and business of farriery. His education like many others in the 60s and 70s consisted of apprenticing with many farriers sharpening his skills on several disciplines. He shod his first horse for money in 1967. His career includes Standardbred, Throughbred and Quarter race horses. Western, including Reiners. Dressage horses, Jumpers and Hunters. He is also a past resident farrier at the Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio.

Dave Farley CF APF of Coshocton, Ohio has been shoeing horses for over 35 years. He has shod for a broad range of disciplines, including western horses, reining, dressage, hunters and jumpers. His business today is focused on hunters and jumpers on the ?A? circuit.
Throughout his shoeing career he has participated in educational functions. For a number of years he has been doing shoeing clinics in the US and Canada, including the AFA Convention and the International Hoof Care Summit. In 2000 he received the Clinician of the Year Award from the AFA, in recognition of his contributions to the industry. In 2008 he was inducted into the International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame. In 2017 he was selected to deliver the Burney Chapman Memorial Lecture, presented by Life Data Labs, at the Summit.
Dave is known for his willingness to share his knowledge and experience with farriers throughout the industry. His dedication is obvious to those who have heard him speak in the past. He is a founding member and currently the immediate past president of the American Association of Professional Farriers.
